New Car!

We set out last weekend searching car lots looking for a new car to replace my tired, 12 year old Honda.  We had a few ideas of what we wanted, and then had a few cars that we just wanted to test drive.  We spent all day Saturday out looking and driving and by the end of the day, I was very much undecided.  We drove the Nissan Pathfinder, which we loved, but the backseat wasn’t very comfortable and didn’t have much leg room, so we weren’t quite sold.  We sat in the Nissan Murano and instantly LOVED it…it felt like you were sitting in the most comfortable leather chair EVER.  Unfortunately…it had very little cargo space in the back, so we knew that wouldn’t work for us.  We drove the Honda Pilot and it was truly awful.  Matt is the only one who drove the Pilot, but it was uncomfortable for me to ride in and he hated driving it.  We got away from the Honda dealership as quickly as possible.  We also drove the Mazda CX-9, which was AWESOME, but we weren’t quite sure it had the space we were looking for.  It had 3 rows of seating, just like the Pathfinder, but the front seats and driver compartment felt really cramped.  When we left the lots Saturday, we really weren’t much closer to a decision than we were when we set out that morning.  We went to dinner and talked it over and made plans to go back out the next afternoon.  Sunday afternoon brought us to the Chevy dealership.  We were both extremely interested in pricing the Tahoe and test driving one.  They pulled it around, we gave it the once over, and then took it for a spin.  We fell in love!  The seats were comfortable…in Matt’s words, they were made by fat Americans, for fat Americans…it had the space we wanted…and even better, the price was right!  After HOURS (& I do mean HOURS) of negotiating, the dealer finally saw things our way and we drove off in our new 2009 Chevy Tahoe!  At one point in the negotiations, they were refusing to come down any further on the price of the car, so Matt and I just got up and left…we hadn’t even gotten out of the parking lot on our way to lunch when they called Matt’s phone to make another offer…still too high.  We went back and forth for a few more phone calls and eventually ended up back at the dealer signing on the dotted line.  I am totally LOVING my new car!
