Last weekend Matt and I drove up to Abilene to visit with my family for a few days and we also caught an ACU football game. ACU went for a perfect season this year…10-0. We saw the last regular season game and it was pretty good game. It was good to watch the guys and it was good to see Rachel (my cousin) cheer them on to victory. They will play their first playoff game next weekend.
Other than some ACU football and some antique shopping with my mom and sister, we just spent the weekend hanging out with the family. My mom cooked an awesome lunch after church on Sunday and we also had a little family photo shoot in the backyard by the creek. The weather was absolutely beautiful! I sure do miss the weather this time of year in Abilene. The pictures came out pretty good…especially since it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Check out the sample below…
So…its official…I’m really bad at blogging.
It seems like I am busy non-stop. I come home from work and its either cook dinner or run errands and then pick up the house and by the time I know it…its bed time so I can start over the next day. Teaching a different subject this year has really been stressful for me. By the time I leave school in the afternoons I’m tired of doing school stuff and working and the last thing I want to do is work more when I get home. I feel like a first year teacher all over again because I’m having to learn a brand new subject. Oh well…
So…we’ve been pretty busy since I last posted in September. We survived the hurricane and we got my family pretty much settled in at various relatives’ houses. Work at the big house in Winnie has been slow…very, very sloooooow. In fact, I’m not sure they’ve accomplished much of anything at all. But it will all get done…if we have to work all summer long…we will. Other than getting back to normal since the hurricane, we’ve been doing various projects around the house and are gearing up for the holidays. We decorated for Halloween, which was exciting because it was the first time we’ve had a house to decorate and we even had some adorable little trick-or-treaters.
We had a really busy October. We ended up having to buy a new car…totally a spur of the moment thing. Matt’s car is officially DEAD. We took it in to have the PCV valve cleaned and have a tune up done…and now its DEAD. Apparently its not good when spark plugs rust in…who knew? Anyways…we got a really great deal on a 2006 Jeep Cherokee from my cousin’s pharmaceutical sales company.
As if the new car (just a few short months after buying a house…) wasn’t enough…The same day we sealed the deal on the new car, we also decided to get a dog. She is a beagle puppy and was found behind some garbage cans in one of our friend’s neighborhoods. We think she is about 4 months old and we named her “Bailey”. For the most part, she’s a really good little puppy. She’s adjusting to our schedule…we feel bad because we are gone so much during the day, but I think she’s doing ok with it. We stay outside with her in the evenings and then she lays around the living room with us at night. Right now she is in a kennel (her “house”) during the day and at night when we are sleeping, but we are hoping we will get to the point where she can just stay in the laundry room or back yard during the day and then sleep on a doggie bed in the laundry room or our bedroom at night. We’re working on it…making baby steps. Having a puppy is very interesting…I guess I always just take for granted that dogs know they aren’t allowed on furniture or they aren’t supossed to bite. Oh well…we’re all learning.
