This weekend, just like the last few and next several, were spent working on the baby’s room. We spent Saturday morning running errands and getting supplies for our (Matt’s) day of work. We bought 3 cans of paint, nails for the nail gun, attachments for the air hose, and a paint roller. Once we got home, Matt got all of his supplies hauled upstairs and started hanging the beadboard in the baby’s room.
beadboard up on the first wall!
on to the 3rd wall…the tricky one with all the windows…
After finishing the 3 walls, Matt had a great idea for us to write a note and some Bible verses on the last section of wall before we covered it up with the beadboard. So, he stopped for the night, found Bible verses this morning, and we finished everything up after writing on the wall.
our note to Baby M and the Bible verses we chose
the last panel goes up!
Now that the panels are up, the baseboards need to be nailed back on, chair rail put up along the top edge of the panels, nail holes filled, and finally it all needs to be painted and caulked. I am so beyond thrilled with the outcome! It is exactly what I had pictured in my mind all along and I can’t wait to see how it all comes together once we get all of the furniture and decor in the room!
I know…I’m a little behind on my posts. The end of the summer turned out very differently than any of us had planned and blogging got pushed to the back burner. As of today, I am almost 25 weeks pregnant! Where has the time gone? I’ve been feelings lots of movements and I just love it. I can’t help but smile when I feel that little life inside of me. Not only can I feel the movements, but we can also see my stomach move when the baby moves…its like a little alien inside of me! We had our 20 week appointment and ultrasound about 5 weeks ago and got a PERFECT report on our little one. It looks like baby has long legs and we even got a cute little wave. He/She wasn’t really in a great position for a good profile shot, but we did get to see the sweet little face. At the 20 week appointment and then again at our 24 week appointment last week, the doctor said he/she is measuring about a week ahead and is currently in the 90th percentile for size! It looks like we have a little chunky monkey on our hands! She said if the growth rate continues like this, we’ll be looking at 8 lbs or more at birth, so she’s going to continue monitoring in the coming months in case we need to deliver a little early ;). Maybe we’ll have a Thanksgiving baby!
In other baby news, we picked out paint colors and my mom painted the room while she was staying with us for a few weeks. Matt started working on putting the beadboard up this afternoon and I’m so happy with how it looks! Hopefully that will be finished sometime this week or next weekend. We also picked out fabric to have the bedding made. I decided to be ultra high maintenance and bought fabric for a baby boy and fabric for a baby girl and we’re just going to wait until the baby is born to have it made. My mom is sewing the bed skirt for us out of a khaki linen fabric, so that will be done and we will have curtains up, but the bumper pad is going to wait. I just didn’t really love any of the neutral fabric we were finding, but was in love with the two gender specific fabrics I found. Matt finished the chest that was mine and Jillie’s when we were little and now I’m hunting for the perfect knobs to go on it. We found a chair and ordered it for the baby’s room last weekend and we also got a hand-me-down chair from Jeff & Alison to put in our bedroom. We were able to pick out the fabric for the chair and we’re really excited about what we chose! It should be here toward the end of October! The baby’s bed should be arriving in the next couple of weeks and my parents are bringing it down with them in October when they come to visit. I’m so excited about getting furniture in the room…I know that’s when it will really start to feel real!
my mom painting the baby’s room! She did a fabulous job!
the finished chest! just needs knobs…
We also went and registered for gifts before school started back up and I’m super excited about our wish lists! We ended up registering at Target, Babies R Us, and Amazon.com.
I’m feeling really good these days and I think my only complaint is the record setting heat we’ve been experiencing the last several weeks. Its just flat miserable out there! Starting back to school this week was exhausting, but that’s pretty normal for every year. Even though I hate getting up so early, it’s been kinda nice to be back in a routine and have a new group of kids at school. We had a great first week together. I found some really good work clothes at GapMaternity and I know that has helped me feel better about starting school. I know that sounds stupid, but I was so worried about not being able to find cute clothes and I was not excited about having to go to work everyday in uncomfortable or unflattering clothes that I hated. Thanks GapMaternity!
