Parker’s 1st Trip to the Ranch

Parker’s 1st Trip to the Ranch

Brad & Monica are always so generous and let us spend time in the beautiful hill country at the ranch.  It’s always so nice to get away from the busy-ness of the city and life in general and be surrounded by nothing but a beautiful landscape, beautiful animals, sunsets, stars, and just the sounds of nature.  Summer trips to the ranch are especially relaxing since we get to take ranger & 4wheeler rides in the morning before it gets hot and then spend most of the rest of the day in the pool.

the day before we left…we talked about vacation all day…he was very excited ;)

in the car on the way to the ranch…no longer excited about vacation…thankfully, he fell asleep shortly after this picture and was much happier when he woke up!

We’re here!  On the ranch road headed up to the house!

LOVE those ranch sunsets!

view from the front porch of the house one evening

how could you not love it here?

it rained most of the day Sunday while we were there and that evening we saw a gorgeous rainbow

Another great thing about the ranch…SINK BATHS for Parker-man!

We also got a chance to take some new family pictures…it’s a rare event that all 8 of us are together, so we had to take advantage!

Such a great vacation…wish it could have lasted longer!

7 Months

7 Months

I figure I better get this done even though it’s late.  We’ve been having so much fun that I haven’t really had a lot of time to sit down and blog.  We spent your 7 month birthday playing at home and then went shopping for a new washing machine after daddy got home that evening.  Our old washer had been having some issues and after a bolt of lightening struck very close to our house, it completely fried the washer (it was running when the lightening hit).  Oh well…the new one is much better!

Parker, you are just adorable.  I kiss your cheeks at least a million times a day and that smile just completely makes me melt.  You’ve started kissing us back over the last few weeks and its just the sweetest thing!  You bring so much joy to our family and we can’t wait to see what these next months and years hold for you!  We love you, Parker James!

Last month, I was asked to make cookies for 2 very special boys who were turning 1.  Jake and Aedan are adorable little boys of our friends Wade & Wendi and Aja & Landon and when their mom’s asked if I would make cookies for their birthday parties, I just had to say yes.  I hadn’t made cookies since long before Parker was born, so I dusted off the rolling pin and dug out the cookie cutters and decorating stuff and whipped up several dozen teacakes.

Jake had a baseball themed party & everything was super cute!

Aedan’s party was all bright colors & the #1, and it all looked so cute!  I especially loved all the bright colors of everything.

Thankfully, the parties were on different weekends, so my hands had time to rest in between!  I love making cookies for special events, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of these sweet boys’ special days.

Summer, so far…

Summer, so far…

Wow…can we say blog slacker?

It seems like summer has been really busy, but then at the same time, it feels like we’ve been able to do lots of relaxing, too!

As soon as school let out at the end of May, Parker, Jillie, and I packed up the Tahoe and headed to Abilene for our first week of summer!  This was Parker’s 2nd trip to Kappy & Chief’s house and we had a blast!  We spent lots of time hanging out with friends, shopping, and even got to take Parker swimming for the first time.

The swimming pool was a huge hit!  We’ve been swimming several times this summer and he loves to kick his legs & splash.

Making a mess & having fun eating at Kappy & Chief’s house!

Swimming at Jake’s 1st Birthday Party!

Swimming on Father’s Day…we’ve spent alot of time in the pool this summer!

If you have a drink, you have to share with Parker…no questions asked.  He loves to drink out of our glasses, but usually ends up wearing more than he actually drinks!

We’ve been letting you try lots of different foods from our plates the last few weeks.  This particular taste test was some kind of dessert at Nana’s house one afternoon and you were not a fan.  You’ve also tried baked potato, refried beans, ice cream, watermelon, cantalope, apples, and probably a few other things.  You’ve loved all the fruit we’ve given you in the mesh feeder, you love tasting ice cream off our spoons, and you liked the baked potato, but the refried beans were not a hit.  You’ve also tried tea, water, and lemonade from our glasses and seem to enjoy them all.

One morning right after breakfast…you are so darn adorable!  I could stare at that face all day long!

Playing in your jumper one afternoon…you love this thing!

Parker, this has been the most wonderful summer of my life!  I love waking up early with you and having breakfast, playing on the floor & (mommy) drinking coffee while we watch the Today Show, running errands with you, and seeing your face light up when daddy gets home…it’s all just priceless.  I can hardly remember what life was like without you and I look forward to our last few weeks of summer vacation with just the 2 of us!
